-November 2007 - Kingston Co-Sponsors Taxpayer Choice Act; Democrats Introduce The ‘Mother Of All Tax Increases'

Congressman Jack Kingston signed on as one of 71 co-sponsors of H.R. 3818 – the Taxpayer Choice Act of 2007. The Taxpayer Choice Act is a comprehensive, individual income tax reform with two principal goals: 1) eliminate the massive tax increase that will occur under the forthcoming expansion of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT); and 2) provide individuals an alternative tax system that is fair, simple and efficient.

November 2007 - Coalition Led by Congressmen Kingston, Wolf and Wamp Introduces Earmark Reform Legislation

The Kingston-Wolf-Wamp concurrent resolution would establish a Joint Select Committee on Earmark Reform composed of 16 members from the House and Senate majority and minority parties. The JSC will hold at least 5 public hearings while conducting a full study of earmarks. Because earmarking is practiced by both the Congress and the Administration, the study will cover the House, Senate and Executive Branch. Earmarking in authorizing, appropriation, tax and tariff measures will be covered and the JSC would report their findings back to Congress within six months. While the Committee is conducting the study, no earmarks would be considered by either the House or the Senate.
